Solar panel output HELP!?
Hi all,
I would really appreciate some help.
I want to calculate what the estimated monthly output of a solar panel system.
For example if a system’s peak power is rated to be 5kW. I have levels of “bright sunshine” hours from

not sure if this is the same as sun hours
i also have data from nasa’s website that gives the solar insolation levels in kWh/day*m^2
how do I use this data actually calculate the output?
Should I use the daily solar insolation divide it by 24 hours to get kW/m^2 then divide this by 1kW/m^2 which is the standard test condition to get peak power . Then mupltiply this ratio by the hours of sunlight available per month?

You want to use the solar insolation numbers from NASA. Let’s say the average sun hours is 4.
If you have a 5kw system, that’s 5000 watts x 4 sun hours = 20,000 watt hours a day under ideal standard test conditions. You want to take system losses into account, like voltage drop, inverter inefficiencies, dust on the modules, etc. So you would multiply 20,000 watt hours x .77 losses = 15,400 watt hours output, or 15.4kwh, a day.
